Launch of New Website

Grenfell Coat of ArmsWelcome to the Grenfell Family History Website

[incorporating the Grenfell One-Name Study]

An internet resource for everyone interested in the history of the Grenfell family.

To researchers who used the original Grenfell website I hope that you will find this version an improvement in layout - also the ability to carry out searches.

The content at present is very similar to that in the old site but it is anticipated that new material will be added shortly. Details of this will be visible in the box to the right.

To new visitors - a special welcome.

The purpose of the site is to further interest in the Grenfell family name which has been registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies (GOONS) by Alison Stephen, Victoria, Australia. The objective of the One-Name Study is to research all occurrences of the name GRENFELL and its variants GREENFIELD, GRENFIELD, GRINFIELD, GREENFILL etc. Databases are being compiled to include indexes to Civil Registration of Births, Marriages and Deaths, Parish Records of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, Overseas records, the IGI and published indexes of Wills etc. Wherever possible it is hoped that we shall be able to include some of these on the website, and Alison will be very pleased to hear from researchers - as her knowledge of the family is extensive.

There are errors, not too many of them I hope, but if you find an error please let me know so that I can correct it. As with all data of this nature it should only be used as a guide for further research into primary sources and no guarantee can be given or implied as to the accuracy of any information on the site or the data included.

The site is being continuously updated - feel free to browse, but please call back for the latest data. Your comments, corrections and additions will be very welcome and we hope that we can add your name to the list of Researchers.

I appreciate that at present the site is still UK orientated, but hope that researchers throughout the world will continue to provide us with information to broaden its base.

Please contact either Alison in Australia, or me, Arthur Coomb, in Cornwall by the Contact link above.

Thank you for visiting the site - please call again
